Prize donated to Food BankMore than 700 of you voiced your opinion, and from that we have a winner in NapaValleyRegister.com’s first-ever Thanksgiving Dinner Disaster story contest, sponsored by Vallerga’s Markets in Napa.

From about four dozen entries, Register staff narrowed the field down to five finalists who wrote short stories about the worst Thanksgiving dining experience they ever faced.
Once the finalists were selected, readers voted online for their favorite of the five finalists.

In fifth place is Peggy Wyckoff (xtrapeggy) of Napa with, “The whole day came crashing down.
Fourth place goes to Stu Wall (UncleStuy) of Dixon with, “Fire that turkey.”

Third place goes to Cathy Odom (cathyodom) of Napa with, “How NOT to give yourself food poisoning for Thanksgiving.
Finishing as runner-up is Stephanie Solberg (SpecEdTeacher) of Napa with, “Keeping a watch on the bird.

The 2008 winning entry, "A sharp cranberry sensation," is from Ed Moody (MonezMon) of Napa. Ed wins a $100 gift certificate from Vallerga’s Markets in Napa for his winning Dinner Disaster story.

Thanks to all the entrants, and to everyone who voted for their favorite Thanksgiving Dinner Disaster story.

" Congratulations Ed! Yours was my favorite but I loved UncleStuy's too. Happy Holidays. "

" Thanks to all of you who voted for our story. I may finally get Mike to stop razzing me every Thanksgiving. BTW, we're donating the certificate to the Napa Food Bank. I'd hate to buy food for ourselves only to ruin it in another kitchen mishap. "

" Congrats to MonezMod!! It was fun to see the flurry of votes. I'm afraid I'll never stop getting razzed about stuffing my watch in the turkey so long ago...!! Thank you for donating to the NFB...you have good hearts. "
