Discovery Channel's Scott Cassell Visits St. John's Lutheran
St. John’s Lutheran School sponsored a special presentation by Scott Cassell, CEO and founder of the Undersea Voyager Project, a nonprofit organization that advances scientific knowledge and understanding of the Oceans.
A world leader in the study of squid, particularly the Giant Humboldt Squid, Scott and his team were the first to film a giant squid in predatory, free swimming behavior. Cassell’s work has been featured on the Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, the History Channel, the BBC and on Disney’s “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” DVD.
Scott is planning a “round the world” tour of the oceans with hopes of discovering new ocean species, and to photograph giant squid. So far, less than 1 percent of the world’s oceans have been explored.
The large crowd of students and parents were entertained, as well as educated, by the amazing video shots of these unique creatures and Scott’s first-hand account of his experiences.
Anyone interested can follow Scott’s underwater journey in real time at
