I have friends who are gay, straight, Mormon, Catholic, black, white and Hispanic. On Nov. 3, I sat comfortably on my couch naively thinking Proposition 8 would never pass.

Dear editor, I am writing this letter in response to Napa resident, Bob Robeson, who in a letter to the Register dated Nov. 19 attributed the removal of plum trees at Alston Park to the Napa Community Resources Director (“City cut down the glories of Alston Park”).

With the appointment of Christine Romer to head up his council of Economic Advisors, the key person to advise the President on economic policy, Obama has put in place an economic team that consists of centrists if not right of center policy makers. He has already put to rest the "socialist" criticism leveled continually by his Republican critics, but are they paying attention?
