What are you thankful for

Thanksgiving is around the corner ... what are you thankful for?

I am thankful that I live in a great country, where we can believe in what we want and not get killed for it. I am thankful for the brave men and women that are out protecting us from the terrorists that would be more than happy to kill us all or take our freedoms away.
I am thankful I am getting an education, even though sometimes I found myself bored at school and I would rather not be there. And above all, I am thankful that I have a family that loves me and cares for me. Sometimes it may not seem like it when I am punished, but the teachings of right and wrong are vital to living a good life.

I for one, am thankful for the fact I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge, for a mom and dad who love me and a sister who annoys me. I am thankful for my family!
I am thankful my mom stays home with me and my sister and my dad is working, and not out spending money on drugs while my mom works three jobs to keep us alive (or the other way around).

It seems as if the more technology we get, the faster cars, the "smarter" computers, we lose touch with the things that really matter, like parents actually raising their kids. We see kids in daycare centers labeled "preschools" who go on expensive vacations to Hawaii and Disney World all the time but never get to spend time with their parents and are being raised by someone who doesn't know them or love them like a mom and dad would. "Children will not remember you for the material things you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them."
It is sad to think that the parents believe their "baby" would be happier going on vacations in cool places and having fancy stuff than having the love of their parents. I had a friend who spent most of her young life in day care and then at her grandparents' house when her grandma retired because her parents chose to spend all their time working achieving their careers and to be able to afford the cool stuff, and she was miserable, I mean, who wouldn't be?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

" I am thankful for my family: my husband for his hard work and taking the risk of starting his own business and helping it to grow; my kids for being loving and kind; my extended family and friends. I am thankful to be a stay at home mom, although that term is an oxymoron since, with 3 kids, I am on the go more than at home during the day. I am thankful for the staff at my kids' school. "

" I am thankful that we live in a country where people can band together for a common cause regardless of where they come from or what they believe. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to learn, and the chance to someday change the world if I try hard enough. I am thankful that I have a family which is supportive of me and of my dreams. "

" My country, with all its liberties and prosperity, my health, technology, my wonderful husband and the three children he has given me and for whom he has so dutifully and cheerfully provided, my parents, my mother-in-law, my dog, my humble home, my car, my job, my kids' awesome teachers, all the working people who keep this country rolling along, all the good moms and dads and grandparents out there, God--whomever (s)he may be, and all his or her wonderful creations. I have a lot to be thankful for.
I'm thankful Angelina asked this question, because it's a good thing to reflect and give thanks. "

It's "sad" to me that you believe that parents who choose to work and then have enough money to take family vacations somehow do not have "the love of their parents..."

But, to answer the question, I am thankful for my family; I am thankful that I am able to CHOOSE to stay home with my kids; I am thankful for the new administration! "

" Ooops... I forgot to mention my big chocolate Lab Bruno! How could I forget? I mean, it's not like he's too small to go unnoticed...Thanks for the reminder freeport, steph and gatekeeper :)

Napagrrl-
Maybe you misunderstood me.... I meant that the parents CHOSE to work all day and CHOSE to leavet their kid in a daycare center all day so they could work to make the money to afford to go on expensive vacations to Hawaii and skiing in Colorado 2 or 3 times a year rather than just going to Tahoe or Berryessa for a few days and actually spending time with and raising their kids by not working as much. "

" Both my parents work.

I think it really just depends on the situation. I know plenty of kids who spent a lot of time in daycare, but it wasn't because the parents didn't care. In some families, both parents work. I don't think that's good or bad. Again, it's something that's individual to the family.

And I'm thankful that this school project will be over tomorrow! "

Seriously, I am thankful for all these things, family, new and old friends, our animal friends, and the ability to have a day to celebrate and give thanks. "

" Every year I am fortunate enough to be able to add more reasons to be thankful for.
I am thankful for my hard working husband for keeping our family well fed, dressed, entertained and with a roof over our heads, and all these with a smile on his face...most of the time!
I am thankful for my daughters for keeping themselves out of trouble, for their love to learn, creativity, compassion and for making me laugh and keeping me young.
I am thankful for my dog who gets me out of the house every morning to go running.
I am thankful for my parents love and wisdom; for my in-laws who are always there when we need them.
I am thankful for my job that allows me to work as much as needed without having to ever place my kids in a daycare; my bosses and coworkers who make my job fun!
I am thankful for my kids' teachers, my friends and neighbors who never fail to show their friendship and good spirit and for sending me those chain emails that make us all laugh!
I am thankful for the freedoms we have in this beautiful country; for the men and women who put their lives on the line so we can go to sleep every night knowing we are safe under their watch so I can pray to God and thank him for being alive and healthy! "

And I give thanks to the brave men and women fighting overseas to defend this country and to their Commander, President Bush, who had the determination and foresight to recognize the significant threats to this country and to aggressively respond by taking the fight to the enemy, wherever they might be...
