Napa’s California Pizza owners, Kathryn and Tom Kenney, have opened That Pizza Place at 1149 Main St. in St. Helena in the former Papa Murphy’s site near Sunshine Market.

They can’t use the same name as they do in Napa, since St. Helena prohibits “chain” restaurants.
Unlike Papa Murphy’s, they prepare fully cooked pizzas to go; there are also three tables and chairs where you can eat the pizza, but the focus is on take-out. They will also sell uncooked pizzas to finish at home. A small cheese pizza is $7.

They’re open seven days a week, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The phone number is 968-9671.

Folio Enoteca returning to roots
After serving as the de facto anchor restaurant in the Oxbow Public Market, Folio Enoteca is returning to its original plan: a wine tasting and sipping bar with appetizers. It is cutting back on larger entrees.

The wine bar is also initiating wine blending sessions for consumers using the wines stored in its barrels.

Bayleaf adding Italian-American menu

Bayleaf Restaurant is adding a traditional upscale Italian-American menu to the Continental cuisine it now serves.

The new menu includes shrimp scampi, linguini with clams, manicotti, duck and traditional lasagna, linguini with seafood (linguini frutti di mare) and chicken Parmigiana.

The price range for the Italian entrees is $10 to $25.

Bayleaf Restaurant is at 2025 Monticello Rd. in Napa.

What’s up with the Visitors Center?

A month ago, the Napa Downtown Association assumed management of the Visitors Center in the Napa Town Center after the Visitor and Conference Bureau (now called the Napa Valley Destination Council), withdrew its support to focus on getting people to the valley, not advising them once they are here.

Director Craig Smith said that the Visitors Center will continue to serve the whole valley. Though the center will naturally promote businesses in downtown Napa, it will also recommend those Upvalley, and requests that those businesses provide them information, too. The center intends to work closely with the Destination Council.

It hopes to call the effort the Napa Valley Visitor Center and share staff with the Napa Downtown Association.

The Napa Downtown Association will bear some costs, including salaries and insurance, and is seeking county support and will explore other funding sources. It does not plan on being a membership organization. Reach director Craig Smith at 257-0322 or crgsmith@pacbell.net.
