Lake Berryessa

The Lake Berryessa News’ Web site has a “Fishing With Sid” feature every week. I have condensed his latest notes:

• Friday — Ranch House at first light. Trolled the Narrows without much success. Finally caught a few small bass on a River 2 Sea jerk bait.

• Saturday — Trolled up a nice brown trout — and a rainbow. A friend boated 14 bass on jigs on points in the Putah Creek arm.

• Sunday — Sid tried that system. Caught two bass on a Senko, two on a River 2 Sea crawdad and two on a floating tube bait with a split shot.

Fish slowly on the bottom.

Clear Lake

There were reports of a hot crappie bite in Jones Bay, at Konocti Harbor, Kono Tayee and Shag Rock.

Look for 25 feet of water with structure coming up 8 to 12 feet.

Slabs up to three pounds are hitting live bait.

California Delta

Napa angler Wayne Ryan reported a nice catch of stripers in the 16- to 18-pound range while fishing with Captain Jim Smith (510-223-5388).

Wayne’s top catch went 20 pounds.

Napa River

That little sprinkle Saturday night didn’t disturb the striper bite here.

Keep at it until the rains wash down the brown water.

Then get ready for a sturgeon season.

Tom of Sweeney’s Sports pro staff

(255-5544) said he caught stripers this week both fly and bait fishing, although the bite had slowed down a bit.

Bodega Bay

The early reports on crab fishing aren’t very promising.

Reports were “two to three per pot in 80 to 100 feet of water.”

Rock cod success continues — with a good mix of lings thrown in.

Sacramento River

Go on to pro guide Kirk Portocarrero’s Web site, www.sacriverguide.com/fishing-report and look at the massive king salmon they have caught just since that season opened on Nov. 1.

Better book a trip — the season is only open until Dec. 31.

DFG fish biologists discovered a huge King salmon floating near a feeder creek in the north end of the Sac. It weighed 85 pounds. The state record is 88 pounds.
