Treasures found at Community Projects
Dear editor, Saturday, Oct. 4 was my fourth time attending the holiday wear sale at Community Projects in Napa. It just keeps getting better!
When I drove up just before 9:30 a.m., customers were already lined up around the block and I understand why. The bargains this year were not to be believed. I spent the entire day there and, like the past three years, got all of my holiday shopping done in one fell swoop.
Apart from the low prices, this sale is never like shopping at a dusty thrift shop. It is always pristine clean. This year, it was festively decorated with beautiful black and gold balloons that were strategically placed to guide customers to the sale merchandise.
My prize bargain for the day was the purchase of a 14-karat gold dragon pendant and chain for $150. (It has since been appraised for much more!) I grabbed a couple of leather gloves for only $5 per pair and got an exquisite 100 percent cashmere coat for $35! I was able to pick up a Tomotsu pantsuit for $21 and bought two evening bags at $7 each. They had jewelry galore, too! I purchased three vintage brooch and earring sets for $12 each set and found some cute jewelry for my nieces and sisters for next to nothing.
What a fun time I had!
I checked with one of the people working there because I don’t want to be late for this event next year. It will be held on Oct. 3, 2009.
I would like to congratulate all the ladies in blue who worked so hard to make this happen. I’ll be back next year.
Lucky me!
