12:30 p.m.A Napa man was found dead in a crashed car early this morning after his family in Petaluma reported him missing.

Douglas McRae Young, 64, was traced through his cell phone about 4:30 a.m. to a location along Old Sonoma Road in south Napa County, said California Highway Patrol Officer Randall Wayne.
Sheriff’s deputies conducted a search on Old Sonoma Road north of Dealy Lane, finding a 1993 Honda Accord down a 30-foot embankment in a creek, Wayne said.

“The car was not visible from the road and found in very thick, heavy brush,” Wayne said. “The car had struck a tree when it crashed into the ditch.”
Young’s body was found seatbelted in the driver’s seat, Wayne said.

“The car had to be pulled from the ditch to the roadway. Firefighters were called to the scene. They had to cut the car open to remove Young’s body," Wayne said.
The victim’s family reported him missing to Petaluma police around 2:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
