Two Stockton women spent some time in custody at the Napa County Department of Corrections Saturday, suspected of attempting to pass phony checks.

Mahogany Brandi Easter, 24, and Alberta Estherlee Edmond, 35, went to Lawler’s Liquors on Jefferson Street and attempted to purchase items using a fake check, said Napa Police Sgt. Amy Hunter.
“The owner of Lawler’s believed that the check was fraudulent,” Hunter said, adding that the owner informed police about the two women.

Hunter said officers got a description of Easter and Edmond as well as their vehicle and an officer located the car at the parking lot of Lucky Supermarket on California Boulevard at 3 p.m. She said that the duo again attempted to pass phony checks at the supermarket but were declined.
Police arrested the women on suspicion of passing fraudulent checks as well as burglary and in Edmond’s case, suspicion of  conspiracy to commit a crime.

" Napa don't play that game Homey. You take your Thelma and Louise show to another town. Good job LL. Now if they were trying to buy some raviolis I can see their M.O., they are to die for. "
