Look to thy soul on Proposition 8

Dear editor, For my interests, the Register has been doing a pretty good job saving its butt lately by printing letters that disagree with its (?) political endorsement. But will it print this?

If the world is not going to come to an end, the human race is going to evolve to the level where violence and war are memories, things in history books, things we used to resort to. And we’ll accept others the way they are and work for the good of all.
The Bible was written by human beings trying to get other human beings to behave. They wrote for readers of another era. We’re smarter now, right? We don’t have to believe every word they wrote to be Christians. Christ just might have been a human being too, with a wife (Mary) and (later) a daughter (Sarah?) and this doesn’t really change much —  just the archaic words of some writers and some church.

If you discriminate, you’re not living like Christ. Simple as that.
Proposition 8 has no raison d’être. Look to thy soul, bro and sis.

" Graham, you are entitled to your opinion about the Bible, but by attempting to marginalize its message you are insulting Christians. That's not a good way to sway people over to your position. "

Separation of Church and State. Absolute.

Those words apparently mean nothing to the people backing 8.

No on 8
No to Hate. "

I can't speak for others, but in case you hadn't noticed, I respond with religious arguments only when the original writer made it an issue, as Graham Bruce did here, or when one of the commenters makes a frontal attack on Christian beliefs. "

" No on 8. It is wrong. It is discriminatory. It is bigoted. It has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with sin....whatever that is. It is about people being treated with respect and equality.
It's also about fear. People fear change. People fear what they don't understand.
This is about compassion. This is about humanity. This is about ending years of suppression of equal rights under the law.
This country is growing up......Finally. Vote No emphatically on Prop. 8. "
