Napa police arrested two women and charged them with attempting to pass counterfeit $100 bills.

Sara Kay Carpenter and Sophia Monee Pierce went into the Rite Aid store on Imola Avenue on Wednesday evening.
Pierce passed a counterfeit $100 bill and left the store, police said.

Carpenter was behind her in the checkout lane and also attempted to pass a $100 counterfeit bill, but the clerk detected the bill was phony, police said.
Carpenter ran from the store and jumped into a car with Pierce. Police stopped their car a short time later, and the women were taken into custody.

Carpenter, 19, of Napa and Pierce, 20, of American Canyon, were arrested on suspicion of forgery, passing forged materials, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.

" God!!!!! I am not that smart to counterfeit money, but i am smart enough to know why would you do $100 bills? Why not do like tens or twenties. They wouldn't think twice about those bills. "

" To leavintown: They do 100 because they want the "Change" and buy a small amount of stuff they may or may not really want. "

" While most of us are working hard everyday to pay bills and mortgages, these two find it more productive to try and make their own money and pass it around. Get a job and work hard for your money like the rest of us. I am very thankful NPD found them and arrested them. Federal Felony charges are hard to beat and I hope they get the maximum time. "

" 6 montha ago I spent a $50 at kragen on jefferson and recived a $20 and some ones for change. A couple days later I spent that $ 20 at quesada market and they said it was fake. All they did was make me use another bill and sent me on my way. I turned around and spent it at the taco truck w no problem. If I were to turn it in I would be down $20 bucks and possibly in trouble. "

" Anytime I spend a large bill and the clerk holds it up to the light for inspection, I patiently wait for my change...

And then hold each bill up to the light for my own thorough inspection. The clerks always have a complete look of astonishment. Some then laugh.

As I tuck my change away I tell them, "Can't trust me, can't trust you!" "

" Im with Marine 1/1 on this one ... and why arn't these two passing them in THEIR neighborhoods!

Oh well, I guess if they put as much time and effort into being a productive member of society, as they do into their criminal careers who knows - they might surprise themselves with what they can achieve. It takes more effort to "think" of ways to commit crimes then it does to fill out a job application! "

" I remember reading in the news years ago about someone I had gone to high school with. This individual was busted for counterfeiting quarters. Story goes that he was melting aluminum and using his home made currency to purchase cigarettes at a nearby gas station. To this that story gives me a laugh. "
