Almost hidden proposition

Dear editor,

We just turned in our absentee ballots. While marking our votes we noticed an amazing feature of the absentee ballot — Proposition P is placed on the otherwise empty back of the ballot.
Given the experiences of various ballot flaws across the country in past elections, we would guess that about a quarter of the absentee ballots will have no votes on Proposition P.

Given the importance of this issue locally, we would have hoped that someone in the elections office had noticed this and placed some instructions about checking the back of the ballot in the voting packet.

" My ballot had P on the front. Not all ballots are printed the same, depending on the number of candidates in a given geographic area. "

" My ballot clearly stated "complete both sides". I actually thought that this ballot had the best set of instructions of any that I have received by mail. "

" I didn't see P on my ballot. Was it on the back too? Oh my god! "
