Come-from-behind win in Pro Football Pool
Three players were tied for the top spot in NapaValleyRegister.com’s NFL pool going in to Monday night’s Denver/New England game.
Wood (2-4, 0-1 MEL) at Napa (5-1, 1-0 MEL)
Last year: The Indians rolled to a 41-14 win over a Wood team that would finish 1-9 with a forfeit win over Fairfield. In the JV game, QB Charles Boyett scored all three Indians TDs in a 20-14 win, one on an 81-yard punt return.
Justin-Siena (4-3, 2-2 MCAL) at Novato (4-2, 4-0 MCAL)
Last week: Justin blistered San Rafael on the road 42-3. Novato won its fourth straight in the Marin County Athletic League, beating Redwood in Larkspur 52-13.
Vintage (3-3, 1-0 MEL) at Fairfield (3-3, 0-1 MEL)
Last year: Nicholas Leija-Perry’s interception with 1:50 to go sealed the Crushers’ 21-14 win.
Middletown (5-1) at St. Helena (4-2)
Last week: St. Helena defeated Upper Lake 27-12 as quarterback Morgan Densberger rushed for 128 yards on 24 carries and one touchdown. The senior signal caller also threw a touchdown toss to wide receiver Jeff Quirici and added an interception defensively. The Mustangs pounded Willits 56-0 on Friday. Willits had a total of 91 yards and never penetrated Middletown’s 40.

Michael Ruffino can do the math. He’s an excellent student, especially with numbers, and that’s why he looks at the Napa High football team’s only loss this year as his most memorable one so far.
