Dear editor, So, the Napa Register endorses John McCain. Not surprising since they previously endorsed George W. Bush. Some people never learn.

Think what the mess we'd be in with Gore or Kerry.... Everything is relative... "

I disagree with the Register's support of Mike Thompson, a proven failure in congress. I also disagree with several of their proposition picks - but I am willing to allow that they have their right to an opinion.

You should learn a lesson your self about humanism. "

" masivlusr, you need to realize that "free speech" means the right of other people to call you out when they don't agree with what you're saying. In other words, just because people are vocal in their opposition to the NVR endorsement of McCain, in no way does it mean that they believe that the NVR shouldn't say anything. If the NVR endorses a candidate, it opens itself up to criticism, which is...again...free speech. If you can't handle criticism, perhaps you should reevaluate just how much you jabber. Free speech also means the freedom to NOT say anything if you can't handle the heat.

And as for YOU advising anyone on "humanism"...well...that's about the funniest thing I've ever read from you. "

" Well, I guess us and the Register aren’t the only slow learners…. A survey across all armed forces, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Army, Coast Guard, Reservists and Active duty haven’t learned either…..polls released today show McCain’s lead over Obama now pushing 3 to 1.…before the debates it was just under 2 to 1.….with a couple million from the right states it could be a real honest to goodness ‘coup‘…. " Glenroy - Strange you don't seem to have heard the word, but then you only want to hear what you want to hear.

Here it is:

"According to an analysis of campaign contributions by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain, and the fiercely anti-war Ron Paul, though he suspended his campaign for the Republican nomination months ago, has received more than four times McCain's haul." "

" Whoops, Glenroy! Let me help you out here with the part you forgot to mention -- which I'm sure was just an oversight and not evidence of your intentional cherry-picking of the facts -- in your post: "The results of the Military Times 2008 Election Poll are not representative of the opinions of the military as a whole. The group surveyed is older, more senior in rank and less ethnically diverse than the overall armed services." (Source: the Military Times Web site)

Last I heard, contributions from service members deployed overseas are running 6 to 1 in favor of Obama.

What might that suggest? "

" Rumor has it even Colin Powell will endorse Obama.
So we see the desperate right-wing extremist comments getting more and more incendiary and absurd -- in addition, of course, to the same old tiresome lies. McCain and Palin perpetuate the twisted myths about Obama, to deflect from their obvious, glaring failings.
And still, Obama takes the high road. "

You know I thought this was a serious post. Then I realized that there is no way someone who is sane could write something like that.

I got a great laugh. Very clever piece of satire of a right wing extremist nut.

Bravo jwk, bravo! "

" From the AP:

Freddie Mac secretly paid a Republican consulting firm $2 million to kill legislation that would have regulated and trimmed the mortgage finance giant and its sister company, Fannie Mae, three years before the government took control to prevent their collapse.

In the cross hairs of the campaign carried out by DCI of Washington were Republican senators and a regulatory overhaul bill sponsored by Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb. DCI's chief executive is Doug Goodyear, whom John McCain's campaign later hired to manage the GOP convention in September.

Freddie Mac's payments to DCI began shortly after the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee sent Hagel's bill to the then GOP-run Senate on July 28, 2005. All GOP members of the committee supported it; all Democrats opposed it. "
