A Vallejo special education teacher died unexpectedly at her American Canyon home on Wednesday.

Angel Stewart, 45, was found dead around 6 a.m. Wednesday by her long-time boyfriend in the home they shared in the 2000 block of Elliott Drive.
At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play, according to Napa Sheriff’s Capt. John Robertson.

An autopsy was done on Thursday. The exact cause of death is pending toxicology test results, Robertson said. Stewart was last seen alive by her boyfriend at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
“She went to bed. She was not ill, but was complaining of being tired,” Robertson said.

Robertson said Stewart’s boyfriend heard her alarm clock go off around 6 a.m., Wednesday. “He tried to awaken her, but found she had passed away.”
Stewart was a special education teacher at Springtowne Middle School in Vallejo for the past four years, according to the Vallejo Times-Herald.

She is survived by a 3-year-old son.

" Angel was a lovely woman who worked hard for her students and was loved for it. She was the last person I talked to on Monday, we talked about one of our students. The last thing she said to me was: see you tomorrow.

Life is short and takes unexpected turns. Cherish every minute. We'll miss her... "

" She was a very sweet woman that I met while in 4-H years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who were close to her. "

" I don't know Angel, but my heart goes out to her family and her students. I have special needs children and this kind of event is especially tragic for these children.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

RIP Angel "

" I would also like to say that Angel's patience and kindness to students and staff was genuine. There can be some very difficult moments running a classroom with students who have challenges.....I don't believe I ever saw her lose her temper with children or judge them unkindly....the glass was always "half full"....
