Magnuson, Domecus help spur Napa Valley

The Napa Valley College volleyball team defeated Mendocino 25-7, 25-15, 25-12 on Friday, improving to 1-1 in Bay Valley Conference action.
Danielle Magnuson had 13 kills and Jacqueline Domecus eight kills as setter Emily Pahk racked up 31 assists. Jane Stier contributed three service aces.
“It was not a great performance by our team because we weren’t challenged that much, but it was definitely a better court presence for my team,” Storm coach Kelly Van Winden said.
Napa Valley hosts Laney at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

St. John’s earn playoff tournament spot
The St. John’s Catholic sixth grade girls earned a Catholic School League playoff berth starting tonight with a 25-9, 25-9 win over St. Mary’s of Ukiah.
In earlier action, St. John’s lost to St. Rose in Santa Rosa, 25-13, 25-5.
St. John's 6th grade players were: Alicia DeMello, Isabel Dodino, Nina
Giaquinto, Samantha Glasson, Allie Huffman, Tanja Jeramaz, Grace
O'Brien, Shannon Mayhew, Michela Peterson, Elizabeth Schafle, Emma
Schulman, Ellen Shindle, Kate Wessell, Meghan McIver and Samantha White.
