The Braves took Friday’s match at Napa Valley Country Club.
In singles play, Justin’s Maja Jermaz defeated Drake’s Ryan Denham 6-0, 6-0; Kelsea Thomas topped Gigi Legnitto 6-2, 6-3; Krystalle Franz beat Emily Moran 6-1, 6-1; and Meg Gallagher edged Julia Alvarez 7-6, 6-3
Drake’s Stephi Blazek defeated the Braves’ Isabelle Mieling 6-1, 6-2, while Natalie Chapman blanked Justin’s Darcy Dellera 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, Drake’s Eliza Hamilton and Liz Bernales defeated Justin’s Tori Roomian and Ashley Letcher 6-3, 6-1; the Braves’ Adrienne Marks and Janae Bassignani edged Jessica Daniel and Claire Oliver 7-5, 6-4; and Drake’s Jessica Philips and Sarah Kuehn defeated Taylor Cabalse and Fernanda Olivera (default injury).
“The girls played well today and won some tight matches that gave us the victory,” said Braves coach Chris Swain.
“Krystalle Franz played a great match at third singles, Adrienne and Janae played well and worked hard for their win, and freshman Meg Gallagher at four singles won the deciding match to give Justin-Siena the win. Julia and Meg had a great match. Both played smart and consistent tennis which led to a lot of good rallies.”
Justin-Siena is 4-8 in MCAL play. Next week the Braves play Tamalpais and Marin Catholic.
