Absurd comedy, no one's laughing

Dear editor, One cannot imagine a more absurd comedy than we now see in Congress. A monstrously irrational bill to bail out speculators in derivatives and home mortgages failed and has been sweetened by tax breaks that can only benefit those who created the mess in the first place. How is it possible that we elect people to Congress who allow such a catastrophic situation to develop and then try to posture themselves as coming to its rescue with solutions that can only make the situation worse?

" Our own "blue dog", "fiscal conservative" Representative, Mike Thompson, voted AGAINST the bailout before he voted FOR the bailout (after ADDING $150 Billion in PORK to the bill). Then he has the audacity to say he voted for it because Barney Frank "promised" to investigate and find out what went wrong.

Barney Frank? The same Barney Frank who took money from Franny Mae and Freddie Mac and then PREVENTED any action to increase regulation over them? The same Democrat Barney Frank who denied there was any problems with Franny Mae and Freddie Mac up to the day they went bankrupt?

I used to question Mike's integrity. Now I have to question his sanity... "

" Maybe you should ask this question of our congressman Mike Thompson. Maybe he can tell you why he voted for it 4 days after he voted against it. If you get an answer, please tell us what it is.

And, yes, I agree with your question, "how can anyone vote for the existing congressional representative we have?" "

" His reason for voting it different 4 days later is simple. He's going along with his wealthy buddies out of threats of violence or threats of poverty, his... Wealthy only care about themselves. "

" It's always enlightening to read 'self-styled 'conservative' parrots because you get a very good idea of the latest up to the minute self-styled 'conservative' Republican KoolAide, and how it fits in with their 'strategery'.

Notice that the Bushite parrots take on Mike Thompson for his vote FOR the 'pork-enhanced' Bush-Paulsen bailout after he voted against plain-old Bush-Paulsen... that's fair enough, but doesn't go far enough.

It's like watching WWE wrestlers bellow. The script is pre-written for both sides, but the folks selling the tickets still get their cash no matter who 'wins'.

The phoney 'conservatives' don't support Mike Thompson's Republican 'Ron Paulite' challenger who like Ron Paul WOULD VOTE AGAINST the bailout in either form.

So the Bushite parrots can have their 'outrage' and still help the corporatists keep their power.

The NVR editorial board endorses Mike Thompson and by their silence about the Republican challenger, the parrots do the same.

Good thing most Americans have caught on to the scam.

" Ruff's comments are true to form as they have been since he started blogging here.

Early on in his posts I detected that his regimented diatribes were more than just the average guys' anger.

Ruff is the consumate progagandist. Here he uses the "ad nauseam" technique of tireless repetition, the "name calling" technique (Bushites) and the deceptive statements of the "half truth" method.

As most people know propaganda is a concerted set of messages aimed at presenting selective facts, disinformation and partial truisms in order to influence an audience.

It is the intent of the propagandist to persuade an emotional response in a target audience using selective, systematic and repetitive manipulation. "
