Domaine Chandon raised a tidy sum for breast cancer research at its third annual Pink Party last week, attended by more than 560 revelers.

Originally conceived to promote the newest addition to the sparkling wine portfolio, Chandon Rosé, this annual party has benefited breast cancer research and awareness since its inception.
Despite the ups and downs of the economy, young Napa Valley socials clad in festive pink attire celebrated with pink sparkling wine and danced under the stars on the outdoor terrace festively decorated in pink, note winery spokesperson Lara Abbott. “étoile, the fine dining restaurant located on-site, and celebrated for its innovative wine inspired cuisine, provided pink-hued appetizers and small bites paired with the sparkling rosé for the event,” she pointed out. Fare from the culinary team included beet panna cotta, salmon and beef tartare, house-made charcuterie and black mission figs.

Proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction benefited Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation. Auction items included magnums of Champagne and various bottles from Napa neighbors —  including Trefethen, Darioush and Opus One wineries. Sephora, Lierac and Thomas Pink — also supported the event. Chateau Montelena’s Bo Barrett attended, offering a commemorative bottle of chardonnay from the barrel used in the film “Bottle Shock.” The largest contribution was for a Donna Karan tote that fetched $1,000, contributing to a total of $6,185 raised though the silent auction.
For the entire month of October $1 from every bottle of rosé (of which the winery sells four varieties) sold at the winery will go to Queen of the Valley Foundation.

In 2007, Domaine Chandon raised $10,000 with the combined proceeds from the Pink Party and rosé sales.

" The dirty little secret the alcohol industry doesn't want you to know is that alcohol of any kind raises a woman's chance for breast cancer. More than four ounces of wine a day doubles that chance. Less than four ounces ups the chance by ten per cent. "
