3 p.m.Police arrested an American Canyon man Thursday evening after a loaded gun turned up in a vehicle parked at a north Napa apartment complex.

While patrolling a complex at the 3500 block of Villa Lane, Napa police ran across a group of men in the carport area, some of whom are suspected gang members, said Napa Police Sgt. John Kostelac.

Following a search of one of the men’s nearby vehicles, a Chevy S-10 Blazer, police discovered a loaded .22-caliber semiautomatic handgun on the floorboard, Kostelac said. The vehicle’s owner, David Rogelio Jimenez, 21, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Let's all pretend that low income housing doesn't breed this element. Not all the people that live there are bad, but a disproportionate percentage of them are.

My suggestion is to hold the parents responsible for these kids. First offense for vandalizing or tagging the parents get a warning and they pay to clean up the mess. The next offense the family loses the privilege of living on the public dime. Any felony would be taken care of by Napa PD, plus an eviction.

I’ll bet their parents will get real creative finding something else for them to do. Classes at the Boys & Girls Club are a lot cheaper than paying full rent.

Yes I do know what a financial burden that would put on the family, but that is not my problem. My problem is protecting my family, my neighborhood and my financial investment in my house.

I will worry about their problems when they start worrying about mine. "

2) I agree! We shouldn't spread out low income housing. We should clump it all in one, secluded area. Or!! Better yet, we dont' have any at all! Only rich people for Napa!! I mean, only well paying jobs are in Napa anyways, so we should all be able to afford the $400k houses.

3) I think this article would have been better if the weapon had been a rake. "

" Gangs have been, and will ALWAYS be a problem here, LA, Oakland and other cities that are closer to the border. Let us just be grateful that Napa's highlight of the week was discovering a firearm in a car close to the suburbs, rather than a BODY. I appreciate the NPD's dilligence in regards to this arrest, but abolishing low-income housing can only make things worse. There won't just be homeless old men roaming, eating and sleeping on the streets, but FAMILIES who have nothing to do with gangs, drugs or any additional illegal activities. "
