A 10-year-old boy who wandered off from his Vallejo elementary school was found Wednesday night by American Canyon Police and reunited with his parents.
The boy went missing after leaving a classroom at Dan Mini Elementary School in Vallejo around 11:20 a.m., Wednesday, to use a restroom, according to an Associated Press report.
Shortly after 8 p.m., American Canyon police officer Kyle Eddleman noticed a young boy walking south on Highway 29 at Kimberly Drive, and stopped to talk to the boy, said American Canyon Police Chief Brian Banducci.
Banducci said the boy told Eddleman that he had run away from school earlier in the day and was looking for his family when he was found more than a mile from the school.
“We confirmed he was missing from a Vallejo elementary school and contacted Vallejo P.D.,” said Banducci, adding Vallejo’s police reunited the boy with his family. “I have no idea how he got to Southbound 29 at Kimberly.”
