" THIS IS INFAIR. I DONT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE CITY OF NAPA, BUT I DO KNOW ONE THING AND THAT IS THAT CHRIS GALLEGOS IS NOT GUILTY. HE IS A GOOD STUDENT, HE WAS ATTENDING THE NAPA COMMMUNITY COLLEGE...AND FOR HIM TO BE IN THIS MESS IS NOT FAIR. AS A YOUNG TEEN MOTHER, I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I DO UNDERSTAND THE HURT AND PAIN THAT HIS FAMILY IS FEELING, BUT THE ONE THING THAT I COULD NOT AND WILL NOT AGREE WITH IS THE FACT THAT IN THIS ARTICLE IT SAYS THAT RICARDO WAS TRYING TO GOOD. IM SORRY BUT FROM THE MOMENT THAT YOU BECOME A GANSTER YOU KNOW THE RISKS SO STOP MAKING HIM SEEM AS IF HE WAS NOT A TROUBLE MAKER. THIS IS NOT OKAY. THIS IS DISREPECTFUL TO CHRIS GALLEGOS'S FAMILY. HE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON THAT WOULD NOT HURT AN ANT. HOW COULD SOME ONE PUT HIS FACE ON THIS...I AM DISGUESTED W/THE MEDIA. WHAT IF THIS WAS YOUR BOY? NOOO.. IM SURE YOU WOULD NOT WANT HIS FACE ON HERE, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE PUBLIC HAS THE RIGHT TO SEE THEM,BUT LET ME REMIND U THAT THESE ARE JUST ACCUSATIONS. CHRIS HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN GUILTY. AS A MOTHER,STUDENT, RESIDENT OF NAPA WHO WANTS THIS T0 BE A SAFE INVIORMENT..SAY THAT UNTIL CHRIS IS PROVEN GUILTY.. HE SHOULD NOT BE ON HERE. HOW &^% DISRESPECTFUL. HE IS INOCENT & I CANT WAIT UBTIL HE IS LET FREE.. BECAUSE IT WILL SHOW THE WORLD THAT HE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON. THE PERSON THAT I KNOW. WOW. IM SPCHLESS.... IM MAD AND SAD KNOWING THAT HE IS IN JAIL FOR SOMETHING THAT HE DIDNT EVEN DO. MAYBE YOU GUYS SHOULD MAKE SURE THAT HE IS GUILTY AND THEN ACUSE "

" THALIA JIMENEZ: first let me say...thank you for your passion. He IS innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers. I hope you have come forward to the police with proof of his innocence. I agree with your statements regarding the victim

janet707: please tell me it is NOT true that grown men are still responding to their cute little gangbanger nicknames like "Grumpy"...I always felt this was a reflection of their childish mentalities...I am glad they label themselves for us. I also used to love when they walked around with pacifiers! THAT was funny. "

" THALIA JIMENEZ: I agree with your comments about the victim, I also think that if Chris and the other boys they caught had NOTHING, I mean NOTHING to do with this, why are they behind bars?

They know something, and if they do not talk unfortunately this is where they are going to stay. Chris is innocent until proven guilty, but NPD obviously has something linking him and the other suspects to this case. The bottom line here is it's too bad how much suffering this has brought to all the families involved.

1_4eastnapa wrote: "thats my homie" if he is your homie why aren't you bailing him out, or better yet sitting next to him behind bars? (readers, notice his 14 in his user name...) Pathetic! "

" If I'm not mistaking, a previous article stated that Gonzalez was "shot ONCE in the head." This means that only one person pulled the trigger, yet it is also stated that all 4 suspects if convicted will face life in prison? how does that work? One person pulls the trigger and somehow the other three will face the same sentence? There is something wrong with this. Also, these 4 are innocent until proven guilty so Janet707, you cannot be positive that it was these 4 who took Gonzalez' life...and if it was them, they weren't the only ones who thought of themselves as "badasses." "

" Innocent until proven guilty is right. I know Danny Ortega very well and he is not guilty either...... This is so unfair to put him in the middle for somethin that he never did. My last comment was not posted , but yeah I agree with Thalia Jimenez! Ricardo was a trouble maker, so please stop making him sound like he was this great kid turning his life around. I don't think he deserved to die, but he knew what he was doing that night in Laurel St, and it was not turning his life around. Well anyways we love you Danny, stay strong, we all know you will and our prayers and thoughts are with you, ur mom, and your lil brother. We will c you soon! "

I am confused???? You first said great job NPD...then you say they guys they have had nothing to do with it???? "

caringnapan wrote on Oct 8, 2008 9:55 PM:

" If I'm not mistaking, a previous article stated that Gonzalez died of "ONE shot to the head." One person pulled the trigger...and the other three?? So why is it that, again according to the previous article that if found guilty these young men will ALL face the SAME sentence? And Janet707, these young men are innocent until proven otherwise soo why are you so certain that they took Gonzalez's life away? Also, according to Villatoro's December 10, 2007 article this was a " fight between two rival gangs on the 2500 block of Laurel Street, near Avon Street." So, really, if it was these four men, they weren't the only ones thinking they were "badasses." "

bloodagar wrote on Oct 8, 2008 11:59 PM:

" "One person pulled the trigger...and the other three??"

Caringnapan, don't you know it takes 4 gangbangers to gather the "courage" for just one of then to pick up a gun and shoot someone...I think it is a rule or something. "

Cadence wrote on Oct 9, 2008 6:45 AM:

" If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it fall, does it make any noise? I think the same thing is at work with the presence of four gang members required for one to pull a trigger. If you commit a murder and NO ONE IS THERE TO SEE YOU DO IT, does it really count? A killer's prestige increases when there are like-minded witnesses. "

Paddy wrote on Oct 9, 2008 7:48 AM:

" It soiunds like Ricardo G. was a member of the Surenos from the articles. It appears that Thalia's plea for Chris Gallegos indicates that he's sweet and innocent. I don't know if these 4 are guilty, but they are in serious trouble. Probably for living a life style that leads to prison or death.

A very big part of the problem with gangs is that families and friends coe them into believing they're not quite hardcore and just boys being boys. Somehow they believe being in a gang is little more than being on a soccer team. It's just a game, and apart from a few bruises nobody will get hurt.

Face the music Gonzalez's and Gallegos', gangsters are just that and people die. Often innocent people. And society has to pay the price. If you know family in gangs tell them it's not acceptable and insist they change. Otherwise, they'll either die or end up in jail. "

" amayazmami707, I agree with you and could not have said it better. I too, know Danny Ortega. I just think the NVR is showing they are guilty without even a trial yet...I am praying for them all and for everyone that wants to judge them without knowing they are even guilty. "

caringnapan wrote on Oct 9, 2008 9:02 AM:

" Bloodagar, I agree with you on that, but i still believe that they should all not be viewed as if all four were the killers. It was a gang fight, yes, but someone was the mastermind and the killer. Someone must have taken the lead. There are leaders in gangs or are there not? "

A group of boys.....two groups (gangs)of boys.....went out one evening to have a little fun. Fun for them was for ALL of the to go out and cause bodily harm to other group (gang) . One of the boys got really brave and Shot another. No matter who pulled the trigger they are ALL responsible for the crime. It is the way the law works for broken windows when your buddy says, "Hey dude... bet ya can't throw a rock that far..." And strangely enough for Murder too. They ALL encouraged each other.....from BOTH sides! Every young man/lady that was there that night are responsible for this murder in some way or another. Even the victim himself...unfortunately.
I'd line them ALL up and give them ALL a good spanking...But that is just my opinion. "

ok I understand that when anybody decides to "afiliate" themselves with a gang they are taking risks, but if this is the case then your dear Chris took the risk too and now he's paying. People live double lifes, he could be a Honor Roll Student at home but when he's with his gang "afiliated" friends he could be different. and how is this disrespectful to Chris Family? Chris is not a victim so please don't try to make him seem like a good kid who didn't do anything wrong..Irregardles he was involved in criminal (yes I said criminal) activity. He obviously knows something and maybe he's not saying? I hope they all pay for the life they took. "

" As most people I started my day opening up the news paper with a cup of coffee. To my dismay right there on the front page was a picture of a boy, a boy I have known for ten years. He was a boy just like any other boy. Loved to ride bikes, involved in little league, other sport activities. He was and is still very polite and always willing to lend a hand. So if you can picture this child it must be hard for you in your mind to picture a murderer as it is for me. I feel physically sick from this. When I picture a murderer I picture a crazy looking mean and evil person. Not a sweet young boy. What went wrong? When did he decide to make these bad choices? I noticed him hanging around with some kids that did not look like very nice kids, but I had hoped it was just “a phase”. We as a community have got to reach these kids before these horrible things happen. How can we do this?? I have no idea, but we have got to figure out a better way. Maybe it was my fault for not approaching him or his family when I noticed this. Perhaps this could have made a difference. This should be a lesson to all kids: 5 people lost their lives from one night, one bad choice, one split moment in time. One family grieves from the death of their son, the other families will grieve for the death of their sons lives. They will never marry, never have children of their own all because one group of kids is from the south and one is from the north??? How can we even thing this makes any sense? "

I have known Danny for at least five years, he is good friends with my son, my son is older and as always tried to be there for Danny and his brother. He has spent time at my house and gone to 49er games with us. I think he is a great kid..I can not imagine he is guilty...And just for the record for people that want to judge , my son is not in a gang..he is just a caring person, who befriended Danny and cares a great deal for him, as do I....again we are praying for him and his family...and remember people innocent until proven guilty...get off your soap boxes and stop judging...you do not even know him or the situation...Blessings to all. And much love to Danny. "

Either way they are really in for a rough time, even if they are not gulity themselves of the crime . They look so young and now their life is in the balance .. Just remember the other gang member's blood runs red too and their Mom's tears are just as salty as yours. Please stop and think.. if you need help getting out of a gang , please talk to SOMEONE ..It is your life , what are you going to do about it? "

"

vocal-de-local wrote on Oct 9, 2008 11:17 PM:

" Some of you people just don't get it. You don't have to actually be the one pulling the trigger to be punished. If you're encouraging others to get revenge, to pull the trigger, then you're a contributing party to the crime. The punishment will undoubtedly be less than the person who actually pulled the trigger "probably", but you played a role nevertheless. And that depends on the mental capacity of the person who pulled the trigger. The jury will ask the question "well if there hadn't been five people standing around the guy who pulled the trigger shouting "kill him" would the trigger have been pulled"? The jury WILL play with that question.

Remember the case of Charles Manson who never actually killed anyone but encouraged others to do so? He is spending the rest of his life in prison because of it. Don't think it can't happen to you. Let this be a lesson to all of those who run to the scene of gang violence and play any participatory role. If you say even one word or make one gesture toward promoting violence against another person, you could spend the rest of your life behind bars. If that's the quality of life you seek, then be my guest. Be prepared to pay the consequences. See if I care. I consider it natural selection and I do not mind you being behind bars the rest of your life. "
