Write your job description for president
By Register Staff
We are in the process of electing a new President of the United States. Those active in the political process have their opinions on John McCain and Barack Obama, but what about taking a bit of a different spin this time around.
If you had to write a job description for what the president should do, what would you include?
No, this is not about McCan and/or Obama, this is for any person in America to be president.
What would your criteria be, what education, what background, what job should a president do?

Second, they must be LEADERS. We have more than enough 'consensus builders' in the Congress. The successful candidate should adhere to an fundamental ideology that guides them and forms the basis of their policies and goals. Their ideology should be made public and be promoted constantly. Pragmatists need not apply.
Finally, the candidate should have a VISION for America. Not another Peace Corp, Americorp, Fill-in-the-blank corp but a real goal that will improve not only America, but the whole world. ( e.g. Ronald Reagan defeated the Soviet Union, Bill Clinton brought us globalization, George Bush defeated the Islamofascists, etc...) Community organizers need not apply.
In that most of the problems facing this country are due to the fact that Congress is made up mostly of LAWYERS, and that they pass laws favoring LAWYERS, laws that are interpreted by other LAWYERS sitting on the Courts; LAWYERS NEED NOT APPLY! "

I am pretty sure if the Founders had wanted to keep lawyers, altruists, pragmatists or whatever the 'bogeyman of the week' the self-styled 'conservatives' want they could have written it in the document that self-styled 'conservatives' want to amend to suit themselves.
Instead they kept the job requirements simple so as to make the job available to many citizens.
The standards haven't been set too high -- after all George W. Bush was eligible.

1. Shrink the government.
2. Secure the borders.
3. Keep the nation strong, economically and defensively, but don't use the defense capability without darn good reason (which leaves out about two-thirds or more of the wars we have been in).
4. Honor our existing commitments but be much more careful about making new ones.
5. Then get the (insert word for very hot place) out of our way and let us enjoy our freedom!
Oh one more thing. Stop teaching our kids that government is the place to turn to for solutions to all your problems. Turn to your mirror instead. "

Not afraid to confront evil...
That makes me a TOP choice because i confront evil every time I post here at the NVR.
Vincent Bugliosi, the famous prosecutor who put Charlie Manson behind bars wants a shot at Bush and Cheney - I am all for giving it to him.
I think most decent people would consider liars and document forgers who conspired to cause the death and wounding of thousands of American service members as evil criminals.
Especially if they pretended to be patriots while they sat in the White House and discussed ways to torture prisoners. Even John Ashcroft ended up ashamed of what the Bushites did in America's White House.
That kind of behavior can definitely be difined as evil and villianous, I am more than happy to confront these criminals.

Okay, I will create my model based on the New Democratic Party.
1. Media Created-hide the truth behind the words "Change" and "Hope". Use of well scripted speeches to prevent stamering and studdering.
2. Perpetuate the Myth- continue saying man is responsible for global warming to frighten him into buying into a $1.2 trillion carbon tax. say it enough times and they will believe it.
3. Lack of Productivity- Nanacy Pelosi and the Democraticaly contrrolled Congress! Need I say more.
4. Attack the Job Providers- Keep over taxing the wealthy and Corporations so that they can cost-effectively move overseas.
5. Bypass the Citizens- Provide, at reduced costs; social benefits, tuition, and other services to non-citizens at the taxpayers expense.
6. Do as I say, Not as I Do- Hinder the development of our oil and coal deposits to keep us dependent of foreign resources. Keep the transference of Wealth to other countries on-going.
7. Blame- Always point the finger at someone else. Never take personal responsibility for anything!
8. The Old stand-by- When confronted with options to aid the economy, raise taxes. Nothingt, but nothing will crush the commons spirits or job prospects faster.
9. Ignore the Constitution-enough said. "

What did I say that you disagree with, exactly?
Don't tell me you want the White House to be a place where they plot torture of prisoners, tell lies and forge documents?
Usually, decent Americans want those kind of criminals put away.
And to most cavalier law-and-order types, the mantra is, 'If you didn't do anything wrong, you have nothing to fear', right?
So if the prosecutor of Charles Manson wants a crack at what he considers to be serious crimes, what does Bush, Cheney, et al, have to fear, eh?

Freeport....I'll hit the highlights.
1> keep trying to blame all things on the media....keeps people from having to think
2) Global warming - I have heard enough hot air from everyone trying to disprove it that alone would account for the temperature rise. I will rely on the general consensus of the scientific community and what I observe in the world around me.
3. 6 years when the Republicans controlled both the white house and congress.....seems that Bush never saw a spending bill he didn't like until the Democrats took control....seemed to like the increased spending by the Republicans just fine.
4. The recent study that said more than 2/3 of the corporations in the United States paid no taxes .... period. Yeah, they are really being soaked with taxes alrighty.
5. Show me where any US citizen was denied benefits in preference to an illegal immigrant....not stories you have heard...a document case.
6. Hinder who?.....Oil and energy companies posted record setting profits this year...everyone should be so hindered.
7. So, blaming everything on the Clintons and democrats excuses the 6 years of Republican control? Sounds like a real example of assuming responsibility to me.
8. and who took a surplus and turned it into a record setting series of deficits....can you say Republicans?
9. and the Constitution.....warrantless wiretaps, signing statements declaring what parts of laws you will follow and ignoring Congresses intent when passing the law....holding people without giving the right of habeus corpus...yeah....you can see how close Shrub and his administration have hued to the Constitution. I was very impressed by the folks who think they know better than the Founders what the required qualifications should be for a US President.
The second thing I noticed was how many folks were desperate to place a 'current timestamp' on a document written for generations of Americans to expect their government and its officers to abide by.
The founders warned against the rise of political parties who would put their interests above that of the American people.
Not many of the qualifications listed by the partisan posters would stand the test of time.

1. an oral disagreement; verbal opposition; contention; altercation: a violent argument.
2. a discussion involving differing points of view; debate: They were deeply involved in an argument about inflation.
3. a process of reasoning; series of reasons: I couldn't follow his argument.
4. a statement, reason, or fact for or against a point: This is a strong argument in favor of her theory.
So it would appear that #3 applies here so let's ask, " what part of my reasoning do you not follow?" Did you read the entire US Constitution or better yet, follow my lead and do your OWN search? Once again, where are ALL THESE HOLES YOU SAY EXIST? Speak up raven, speak up. There is nothing better than discovering the truth on your own. Not being dependent on blindly believing something someone else has told you is a tremendous source of power. This is where the critical thinking part comes in boys and girls. The truth needs to replace the matrix like world system we have evolved into but we MUST DO SOMETHING NOW! The powerful men behind the black curtain want a one world government with one currency, period. We already know this is their primary goal. We know this because what is happening as a result of these truths being told, replacing decades of lies. We know that we are hovering over the target now because they are afraid of the truth. PLEASE prove me wrong...please. "
