Don’t close the polling places

Dear editor, I am concerned about the closing of the polling places. I have spoken to many people who like the American tradition of going to their polling place to vote with the community. I was told that not enough people have been going to the polling places. I do think that this year we have a different situation. I believe that more people than ever have registered to vote. This is an important election. I bet that if you did a survey, you could find both people to fill up the polling places and people who would volunteer to work for the election. Let’s try it.

" The simple fact is tha only 1 in 6 of the Napa Valley population votes in the average election. I think that is tragic. But, why waste the time of all the volunteers and the locations and all that if so few people vote?
The best idea would be for everyone of us to call at least 2 people and ask them to be sure to get out and vote. "

Mail it in. It's one day.

Worry about other things. "

" One of the things I like about the polling places is taking my kids with me. Yes, they can watch me fill out an absentee ballot, but it is not the same. The workers knew us before they closed our polling place and they really looked forward to it. Now that my daughter is preteen, I think it is more important than ever to show her how important voting is. "
