Dear editor, What a shock to hear I am not registered to vote! When I phoned the Napa Election Department to request an absentee ballot, that was the news. Since I have been a faithful Napa County voter for over a decade, I could not believe my ears. This election is so important that I will share the details.

In comparing my situation with computer conversion dates, a mailing address glitch of the January 2007 conversion was uncovered. Having had a postal office box from 1992 to 2003, my mailing address got reverted to that former address in the January 2007 conversion. Since the Deer Park post office closed in 2003, election mail did not get to me nor was it returned to the registrar. The result was Inactive Voter Registration, requiring me to register again in order to vote on Nov. 4. Registration must be completed before Oct. 23.
Voters: Please make double sure your voting privilege is in order. If you did not receive election mail for the June election or had a Deer Park postal office box, call 253-4321 to check. This election needs all of our votes.

" Every election needs all of our votes but the fact is that only 1/6 of the Napa County population votes. How sad is that? "
