The Gymnastics Zone of Napa sent 16 girls to the NorCal Moon Festival Meet at Redwood Empire Gymnastics in Petaluma where they competed with 150 athletes from around the Bay Area.

Leading the scoring was Chelsea Murdock with three goals on four shots, one assist and three steals; Laurel Davis with a goal on three shots, one assist and two steals; Heather O’Connor with a goal on four shots and two steals; and Olivia Husted with a goal on two shots, one steal and a field block.

Chelsea Murdock led the scoring with six goals on nine shots, one assist and a caused kickout; Olivia Husted had two goals on three shots, one assist and three steals; Zoie Konakis had a goal on two shots; Laurel Davis had three assists, one shot and three steals; and Olivia Vicencio had one shot.

The St. John’s sixth-grade team won in Healdsburg on Saturday, 26-24, 25-27, 15-12.

Max Alvarez had five goals as Napa (8-3-2 overall, 4-1 MEL) dominated the battle of the Indians on Tuesday at Redwood Middle School.

Napa Valley turned in 42 brillliant minutes to open the game, but couldn’t hold on in Bay Valley Conference action.

The Monticello Empire League water polo season began in winning fashion for Vintage High School on Tuesday.

Streaking Vintage High got two goals each from Christian Romero and Ricardo Moreno to slip past Vacaville 5-4 in Monticello Empire League boys soccer action on Tuesday.

Anglers may fish for free on Saturday, when the Department of Fish and Game will waive the license requirement for citizens 16 or older.
