Dear editor, The Napa County Democratic Central Committee, after interviewing those candidates seeking endorsement, has voted to endorse the following for the elections in the city of American Canyon: Leon Garcia for reelection as mayor; Joan Bennett for reelection to the city council; and Matt Pope for election to the city council.

The Democratic Central Committee previously endorsed Keith Caldwell for supervisor, 5th District. In other races, Mike Thompson, our current congressman, is endorsed for reelection to the United States House of Representatives from our district. Noreen Evans is endorsed for reelection to the California Assembly.
These candidates have proven over time by their performance and actions that they are supportive of Democratic values, will work very hard for those who live and work in Napa County and American Canyon, and carry out policies that will help our citizens in these trying times.

We urge the voters of American Canyon and Napa County’s 5th Supervisor District to support these candidates with their efforts, their contributions, and most of all, their votes on election day.
Marisa Loza, secretary / Napa County Democratic Central Committee

" Here is how bad government is perpetuated - the democrats endorse the worst candidates just because of party loyalty - no matter their proven inability to serve in office.

They continue to endorse Caldwell? After what he has admitted?

Garcia and Pope? 2 of the least qualified and most responsible for the many problems in AmCan.

How could the democrats be so wrong on every individual? Obviously no thinking person is behind this. Must be local money like the govt employee unions buying this election.

Fortunately the voters have always proven to be wiser than to follow such pathetic endorsements. "

" The Caldwell endorsement makes those of us who are Democrats look like we condone unethical candidates. I note our number one local Democrat, Mike Thompson, is endorsing Simpson for District 5 Supervisor. The local group should drop the Caldwell endorsement and Caldwell should mitigate the embarassment to Democrats and Amcan resdidents by withdrawing from this race NOW. "

" I am embarrased as a registered democrat that the committee endorses Keith Caldwell. This candidate will not respond to my inquiries. Will he respond as a supervisor? I would hope so. But should he wait until he is elected? "
