Bloggermania 2 is around the corner... Are you coming?
Bloggermania 2 (The Sequel) will be at the Veterans' Park in Yountville on Saturday September 27th. We, the bloggers, have a picnic area reserved just for us courtesy of Kevin... Thank You Kevin!
At BMII there will be volleyball, bocce ball, potato sack races, and ADARK1 will be giving out his famous awards to some of the bloggers who earned them in the past few months due to our witty comments, reactions, likes or dislikes. Thanks ADARK1!
Sadly, we (our family) only have one set of Bocce Balls, so it will be a while before getting a turn, unless someone out there has another set? If you do, and you bring it, it would be wonderful. Our family has a volleyball, but it has teeth marks in it (Thanks, Bruno) ... If you have one without doggy teeth marks, please bring it!
If you have any ideas to add to the fun, please post them!!!
A while ago we decided that BMII would be a pot luck, so bring your favorite dish with enough to serve around 10 people, hopefully nobody will be complaining that they didn't get enough to eat. There are small BBQs in the picnic area so we can cook hot dogs or hamburgers.
Even though I wasn't at BMI, I heard it was really fun... hopefully we can get the same turnout for BMII!
See you there!

You have to come! It'll be fun! Theres gonna be hot dogs, burgers, and whatever anyone else brings (NOTHING BIRD-RELATED PLEASE!) It's going to be more of a late-summer BBQ than political debate. None of the "elected officials" will show and hopefully we can just play games and laugh at ADARK1's awards, and your random funniness.
Sandra-
We were thinking that it might be fun in the later afternoon. Like 2-whenever? I hope that works out for you.
winemd-
That's too bad. I was looking foward to meeting you despite our very opposite most oft the time views. "

Bloggers have their own blogs, which anyone can get for free on blogger.com, just as an example. And it is very easy to do.
When you are a blogger you create your own content (writing, video, audio, pictures etc) on whatever subject you want.
Blogging is not going to a newspaper site like this and commenting like we are now. "

Bauhausfan-
is that a "yes, im coming" or a "na maybe next time"? "

Oh and thanks Angelina for the time . We will try to come. "

I know we sometimes ACT childish online, but I didn't realize it carried over into real life.
I would think the event would continue most of the day with people coming and going as their time allows. I am not planning on staying all day.
I will go by in the morning and put out some plastic table cloths and some bins with ice for drinks. I will even provide some briguets for the BBQ so people won't have to bring their own. And I will be back at the end of the day to clean up the mess (it's my deposit you know.) Liberals ALWAYS make a mess of things! :-)
Is anyone offering to decorate?
We need NAMETAGS! That was the key to BM1. You don't HAVE to identify yourself if you don't want to.
Sandra, my wife is forever amused by her Lib friends who, upon meeting me for the first time in person, are 'amazed" that I can be friendly and amiable! Where do people get these misimpressions?
(I am also "house broken". Kind of...) "

I'm sure I won't meet the expectations of people. I can't do stand-up comedy, rolling off joke after joke. My talking sense of humor is more droll and dry and groaner puns. My writing style is completely different from my speaking style (but it is still libertarian/conservative, that does not change). And I don't have pink feathers or a plastic skin.
Sandra - I too have experienced being 'uninvited' because of my views.
Bauhausfan - you'll have to talk to NVR about the name, we didn't start it and I don't care what it's called, although Commentermania doesn't really roll off the tongue as easily as Bloggermania. Will our poetic license and libel insurance cards get us through this checkpoint?
However I will suggest to ADark1 that you be nominated for the "What's In A Name?" or the "A Rose by Any Other Name" or the "Call Me Anything But Late to Dinner" awards. "

It also made me realize, that while these folk call themselves "Liberal", they are anything but....The ridgedness of their views is amazing.... "
vocal-de-local wrote on Sep 13, 2008 2:15 PM:
Ok Kevin, I just proved how childish I REALLY am! There...we agree on something!
And regarding animosity; hey, I never said which side it would come from! What I'm most concerned about is that I'll show up, look around and recognize someone who sits next to me at work or walks past me down the hall regularly. I'm way more opinionated on the NVR forum than in real life. So...I may very well attend, but, I probably won't wear a name tag! And I will probably be fairly reserved (that could quickly change with music though).
And another idea is that the event probably should not be ALL day. The problem with this is that a few people here and there will actually be present at the same time. Kevin, for example is planning to set up, leave, and come back to clean up. Are you trying to avoid us Kevin??? I would narrow the entire event down to three hours. It's way more fun to have a lot of people present at the same time. That way if you want to get lost in the crowd, you can. "

Anyone else have a varied collection of music we could enjoy? I have some 60's 70's 80's collections (I have absolutely no disco though) plus I have some 90's dance music I bought for my son's grad party. who's bringing the sound system? I think I may have some collections from, like 2002/2003 as well. Actually, I have quite a bit of music CD's. I have tons of classical music too but I doubt anyone will want to hear that? I can borrow my dad's Johnny Cash CD. That's a lot of fun to listen to. "

The following is a posting from the BMII blog of a couple of months ago, just as a reminder for the POTLUCK:
On July 12th: "...whomever is coming to the "Potluck" to bring a dish to share big enough for 10 people for each adult in your family who is coming to the party (bite size, finger foods, canapes, salads, chips and dips, etc.) and if people feel a bit more generous OR have more than 2 kids, add a package of hot dogs (buns and condiments included) as well; AND one 2 liter bottle of soda and a few paper/plastic cups; OR if you have a kid who is a "good eater" please count him/her as an adult.
There is a water fountain in the park.
If you are a picky eater, strict vegetarian, vegan, or have any food allergies, BRING YOUR OWN FOOD!
Please post your objections...and a solution to go with it! ..." "

So put on your best pirate tomorrow, stump around on your wooden leg and get a parrot to sit on your shoulder (extra points if you have a flamingo sitting on your shoulder). Drink lots of rum, wear an eyepatch, carry a cutlass, chase members of the opposite sex (can I say that here?) and sing bawdy songs while sitting on a large treasure chest. Ya gotta dress a little funny too. Just think of it as practice for Halloween.

Oh, ya'll, I do so wish I could be there! My momma has colon cancer and is having surgery at UCSF 9/25/08 and I will be staying in the city with her at least through the weekend. Due to other medical conditions, she should not be placed under general anesthesia unless it is life or death. There is a 50% chance she will not get up off the operating table. However, her chance of surviving the cancer are zero. We have a terrible family history & she watched her mother & grandmother die and my brother got it at age 44 (I had my first colonoscopy at 48 and am due for another in a year, so am on top of it!). He is going on his 5th year of survival in 2009. She is more frightened of the cancer than the surgery.

teacher~ I MUST have the recipe of that soup. I only had a bowl (well, I got there a bit late and you were gone already). Yummmmmy!
It was very nice meeting you all.
PPF~ I'm beginning to think that you are just a "product of our imagination"...The tar got cold and there were no feathers to add to the mix. ADark1 brought a "replica" and diehard4ever is hanging you from the ceiling :) "

It was a tough decision. Part of me really wanted to go, and try to be anonymous, but that probably would not have worked. I was going to go there early, before anyone else got there and leave one of my plastic brothers with a note, but I felt sorry for him, covered with tar and feathers so I gave him a reprieve. Then I felt sorry for myself covered in tar and feathers, and gave myself a reprieve.
Actually, I'm ruff's evil twin . . . "

teacher~
"I will work for food" the sign once read.
"I will work for teacher's soup" it reads now.
...alright, I'll change it to "I'll vote for teacher's soup"
Happy now? "

The speculation continues, will the real Plastic Pink Flamingo go stand up on my lawn? "
