The Hess Collection Winery is donating nearly $3,000 to The Land Trust of Napa County via the environmental charity 1% For the Planet. Founded in 1976, The Land Trust now protects over 50,000 acres of open space and agricultural lands in Napa County, and provides educational programs about agriculture and the natural environment to more than 2,300 students each year. The Hess Collection has been producing award-winning wines at their Mount Veeder winery since 1983.

The check will be presented to Alice Kubler, Land Trust boardmember, at Party in the Grove, a Hess-sponsored event, on Saturday, at the nearby Archer Taylor Preserve, a 380-acre property on Mount Veeder that is owned by The Land Trust.
The Party in the Grove is from 2 to 6 p.m. and will feature a barbecue by the Hess Collection’s executive chef Chad Hendrickson paired with Hess wines, followed by a silent auction and Zydeco music and dancing. Tickets are $75 per person for Hess Collector’s Club and Land Trust members, and $100 per for the general public. To purchase tickets, call Jacki Wood at 255-1144, ext. 266.
