VALLEJO - John Carl Hinkle Jr. passed away Sept. 23, 2008, after a long illness, surrounded by his family. The day of his passing was  the same day of his 58th wedding anniversary with his wife, Theresa.

He was born May 6, 1924, in Pennsylvania, to Hazel and John Hinkle Sr. John was in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and fought in World War II. He worked at Mare Island, shop 56, for 19 years.
John enjoyed woodworking, farming, gardening and garage sales. John’s No. 1 enjoyment was sharing time with his family and working around the house fixing everything. He was a man of all trades.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Theresa Dolores Hinkle, of Vallejo; daughters Carla Hinkle Decker of Vallejo, Debbie Hinkle Aspling (Bart) of Sacramento and Leilani Sue Hinkle Burguin (Brad Sr.) of Napa; nine grandchildren, Steve, Dave, Jonathan and Laura Aspling, and Kristen Sizelove of Sacramento, TJ and Jackie Decker of Vallejo, and Brandon and Brian Burguin of Napa; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Madalyn and Teresa Aspling, and Mark and Rachel Sizelove of Sacramento; and sister Thelma Rogers. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters Ruth Lowery and Helen Schultz; and grandson Brad Burguin Jr.
Private services for the family only will be held.
