The undefeated Giants handed the host Braves their first loss in Thursday night’s MCAL opener at Dodd Stadium, taking a 6-0 halftime lead and then returning the opening kickoff for a score in the second half.

Redwood also scored on a 99-yard fumble return and a long run in the third quarter.
Justin-Siena coach Steve Meyer said Matt Lawson played well starting at quarterback in place of Douglas Croft, who rested a bruised kidney suffered in last week’s game.

The coach said tight end Preston Laurence and lineman David Hoff also played well on offense for the Braves (2-1 overall, 0-1 MCAL) .
Meyer was pleased with the play of Griffin Houtary, Alex Keown and Laurence on defense.

The Braves visit Novato for a nonleague game at 4 p.m. Thursday.
The teams will meet for a league game later in the season.
