Antinori takes over Atlas Peak Vineyard
Marchese Antinori has taken control of Atlas Peak Vineyard in the Atlas Peak appellation. That includes the winery.
Antinori has owned the land since 1993 (it was a partner earlier), but leased it to Allied Domecq, which sold it to Constellation.
Constellation recently sold the Atlas Peak brand to the new wine company Ascentia, which produces wine from various sources.
Antinori has introduced a 2006 chardonnay and a 2004 cabernet sauvignon under the Antica Napa label from the appellation. It also owns an adjoining 40-acre parcel.
Hall crushes at new winery
The new production winery at Hall St. Helena is finished and crushing grapes. The winemaking facility was designed by Jon Lail.
There’s more construction ahead, including the visitors’ center designed by Frank Gehry.
Also ahead is destruction — tearing down the old Co-Op winery to uncover and restore the historic stone winery inside.

Food & Wine Magazine has chosen St. Helena winemaker Celia Masyczek winner of its American Winemaker of the Year.
She makes some of the most-sought-after wines in Napa Valley: DR Stephens, Keever, Cornerstone and Scarecrow.
She also makes 200 cases of her own Corra cabernet sauvignon named after the Celtic goddess of prophecy.
Amuse Bouche vintner buys vineyard
