Honoring Amerca's heroes

I want to thank our country's veterans, police and firemen, and anyone who has ever stood up against the odds to defend the U.S. from the terrorists who destroyed the World Trade Center, part of The Pentagon, and nearly The White House.

'Bottle Shock': A good tale should be left alone

I read John Intardonato’s Aug. 29 article, “Bottle Shock — Sonoma gets its revenge” with both interest and amusement.

Huffington's take on skirt-ing issues and Palin

Must read of the day: Arianna Huffington has an interesting article today in the Huff Post that I really agree with. She says the main impact of Palin has been to totally take the focus off of substantive issues in the election campaign and on to whether her skirt is too short or not, etc.

Powerline's Palin thoughts

There have been no bloggers more solidly conservative and in Bush's camp through it all than Powerline, as many conservatives know. We should all take pause then when Paul Mirengoff of Powerline has this to say about Palin:

Mike Thompson makes his case

Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, visited the Register editorial board at the end of August, laying out the reasons why he believes residents of Napa County and the rest of California’s sprawling First Congressional District should return him to Washington, D.C., for his sixth term in the House of Representatives.

Dear editor,

One can feel the intensity level of the Presidential race jumping a couple of quantum leaps since Labor Day. There was another big leap over the weekend as McCain has surged ahead of Obama in a lot of polls on the strength of Palin.

Write your job description for president

We are in the process of electing a new President of the United States. Those active in the political process have their opinions on John McCain and Barack Obama, but what about taking a bit of a different spin this time around.
