Women’s College Volleyball: Treasure Valley 3, Napa Valley 1
Napa Valley, with a sub-8,000 enrollment, was the third opponent for 12,000-enrollment Treasure Valley of Ontario, Ore., during the Chukars’ week-long tour of NorCal two-year colleges on Wednesday.
The Storm (0-3) dominated the first game, but Treasure Valley rallied back for the 19-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 win. Danielle Magnuson had nine kills, Kelsey Ryan seven kills and Emily Pahk 12 defensive saves for Napa Valley.
“The loss sort of came as a surprise,” said Storm coach Kelly Van Winden, whose team begins defense of its Bay Valley Conference title on Sept. 23.
“We were very, very scrappy. Unfortunately, we didn’t run our offense the way we needed to. We’re looking better each time out, but I will admit, too, that it was a disappointing loss because we were right in the match.”
Napa Valley hosts Delta in a nonconference match at 6 p.m. today, and holds its Alumni Match at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Chukars are also playing at Yuba-Marysville, American River-Carmichael, Butte-Oroville and Lassen-Susanville during their NorCal visit.
