Two days after wilting from the heat and Napa High’s strong lineup, the Justin-Siena girls tennis team made an about-face with an 8-1 rout of host Vintage.

“We got a really strong showing from all of our singles players,” Braves coach Chris Swain said after his team improved to 2-1. “It’s encouraging to see, when they’re all there (and not out injured), what they’re capable of.
“We had a parents meeting and made sure everyone was hydrated this time. A lot of the kids looked a lot more lively. They were a much different team than the one that played Napa.”

Justin-Siena swept the singles matches. At No. 1, Maja Jeramaz — back from a hand injury — defeated Taylor Peterson 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2, Kelsea Thomas outlasted Lauren Welty 7-5, 7-5. At No. 3, Samantha Stallings — who had retired after one set against Napa — dominated Stephanie Martinez 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 4 Krystalle Franz swept Katie Laboroe in two sets. Freshman Meg Gallagher started and finished strongly against Nancy Lee 6-0, 4-6, 10-7, and No. 6 Rachel Thompson cruised past Gabriella Forster 6-0, 6-1.

Swain was especially impressed with No. 1 doubles partners Ashley Letcher and Tori Roomian, who won 6-4, 6-3, and the No. 2 tandem of Isabelle Mieling and Fernanda Olivera, who prevailed 6-4, 7-5.
Vintage’s No. 3 pair nixed the shutout bid with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 win over Janae Bassignani and Taylor Calabase.

The Braves will host Branson in their Marin County Athletic League opener at 3:30 p.m. today at Napa Valley College.
