Wayne Madden
NAPA - Wayne William Madden, 89, passed away suddenly, with family by his side, at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008. He was born in Gridley on June 21, 1919, to Laura and Guy Madden. His mother’s family were Irish/Welsh pioneers who worked their 5,000-acre cattle ranch and were instrumental in settling part of the Ruby Valley in Nevada.

YREKA - Lawana Sides, 79, passed away Aug. 30, 2008. She was born July 25, 1929, in Ada, Okla., to John and Pearl Little. While living in Napa, she worked for Skyline Wilderness Park.
Harold Doering
NAPA - Harold William Doering, 96, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in Napa. Mr. Doering was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Lucas, S.D. He married Freeda Malcom in San Francisco in 1945. They lived for a time in Vallejo before moving to Napa in 1956. He worked as a service man for 28 years for PG&E. He was a member of Vintage 1 and Good Sam Trailer clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and traveling.

NAPA - Helen Marie Schoaf, 89, passed away peacefully on Aug. 29, 2008, at A Hidden Knoll, in Napa. She was born Jan. 7, 1919, in New York, to William and Hester Cassidy.
Bette Losey
CHICO - Bette Jane (Brown) Losey made her transition in the early morning hours of July 10, 2008, 11 years and one day after her son, Gary Michael Knox, made his passage. Bette was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, and grew up near Bingham Center, Pa. Bette first married William Leon Knox. Together they had three children: Jim D. Travis, Gary M. Knox and Cherie M. Knox. On March 23, 1973, in Downey, Bette married Earl Clayton Losey of Clayton, N.J. For most of their 35 years of marriage, they made their home in Redding.
Duane Dice
ANGWIN - Duane Richard Dice passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at age 67. His death resulted from brain aneurysms caused by a serious infection. He was born in Saginaw, Mich., on Dec. 31, 1940, to Kenneth and Lavone Dice. After growing up in Breckenridge, Mich., he studied at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich., then graduated from the University of Michigan in 1963 with a master’s degree in engineering. He married Annelies Brunner of Zurich, Switzerland, in 1971, on their shared birthday, Dec. 31.

BAKERSFIELD - A wake will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m., at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St., Napa, for Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez-Lopez. Cryptside services will take place Friday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m., at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2121 Spring St., St. Helena.

Napa - Shirley Jean Fatland, 77, of Napa, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 27, 2008.
