Lights out again in Coombsville area

PG&E customers in the Coombsville area in east Napa were once again thrown into darkness when a downed power line cut off electricity to 2,200 residents from 5 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday, according to PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris.

Power was fully restored to all affected customers by Monday morning, Morris said.
This is the second time in three days Coombsville residents have been saddled with power outages.

On Friday, about 323 Coombsville residents were looking for candles and flashlights as an equipment failure cut off their power.
The outage hit customers along Silverado Trail from Soscol Avenue.

It has not been determined if the two outages are related.

" If the register would have gotten the story right, it has actually been four times in the last ten days. It has also lasted more than an hour twice. I think PG&E needs to get to the bottom of this and quick. We don't want to have to throw our whole refigerator of food out again. "

" Thank you for covering this story. Maybe more attention will force PGE to communicate better with customers about the nature of the problems and the solutions. Last week's outage started at 1am and a crew apparently didn't start to fix it until 8 am. This was troubling to learn--on a hot day and in a neighborhood where no power means no water for most (because we are on wells). Very tough on children and elderly folks. "

" It's absolutely crazy that we lose power so often. My husband & I moved from the other end of town, lived there 3 years, maybe lost power twice in our apartment, now we've been on Soscol for about a year, and we seem to lose power once a month, sometimes twice. I'm also tired of throwing out food, it's not cheap! PG&E needs to fix this problem and fast. "

" Yes, it has been four times and two of those were near us and due to transformer (or other pole equipment) explosions...what a noise and flash! And, two started small, (including the one on Sunday) but frightening grass fires that the Napa Fire Dept got to very quickly...we are very appreciative of that! Something is going on with the power system in Coombsville. It's especially worrisome as we are at the highest possible fire danger and the heat continues. As another said, this is very hard on the elderly, and expensive when we lose groceries. It would be great if the Register could talk to PGE and find out what's up. It's impossible for citizens to reach anyone with info at PGE, or a live person for that matter. "

" Thank you napasince1850! I have never been able to talk to a live person at PG&E when I've called about losing power....maybe the Register would have better luck? "

" Coombsville is probably the hottest part of Napa since it gets the evening sun from being on the West facing hillside. Not good, PG&E. Remincent of a 3rd world country when you can't keep the power flowing. "
