NOTES AND QUOTES for a Labor Day in the Napa Valley:
Marquis Hundley had one of his best games for the University of Arizona Wildcats Saturday night.
Hundley, a Napa High School graduate, recovered a fumble and returned it 87 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter of Arizona’s season-opening 70-0 win over Idaho in Tucson.
Hundley recovered teammate Mike Thomas’ fumble on a punt return and ran untouched from his own 13-yard line. The touchdown gave Arizona a 21-0 lead with 13:17 to go in the half.
It was Arizona’s first fumble return for a touchdown since 2005 against UCLA.
Hundley, a starting cornerback, also had four total tackles, including three solo stops, and had two pass breakups.
He was All-NorCal Conference and a JC Grid-Wire preseason Second-Team All-America for Santa Rosa Junior College.
