Dear editor, I’m happy to see Mervyns leave and can only hope the city of Napa encourages a quality replacement.

I’d love to see Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware in it’s place.  It would be terrific to see Napa dress itself up.  I’m tired of having to drive out of the valley to these places.

" Yes, I too am happy to see Mervyn's leave. Let's hope it is replaced with a vibrant and useful tenant. I would love to see a Macy's or Nordstrom's. It would be wonderful to be able to do all of my shopping locally. Mervyn's just did not have the draw to keep it a viable business. I tried to shop there a few times but found a cluttered mess with poor selection. "

" Cindy you are pretty much alone in your wishes. Napa is changing way too much. it isn't the "good ole home town"any more. Wish they would just fix up what is all ready there and leave it alone. "

" I went to Mervyns and found that prices are 3 times what they were when Mervyns was running the store. And no returns. "

" I love it when people want to "see" a business jump up and land where they need it. These are the same people who don't complain when businesses are piled with outrageously tight zoning requirements, high taxes and high rents and rules for parking and design and green building and living wages....but they won't go out and invest their own money to start a business for the same reasons. "
