Vintage High School’s boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with Friday night’s 7-0 rout over San Marin in the Vintage Soccer Classic at Memorial Stadium.

Jon Avalos got the Crushers started early in the first half, converting a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
Jorge Martinez made it 2-0 on a boot from about 20 yards out, and Christian Martinez put Vintage up 3-0 on a nice kick off a through ball.

The Crushers led 4-0 at intermission as Jesus Tijero capped off a three-pass sequence that covered about 50 yards. Avalos ignited the play with a pass to Juan Chavez, who set up Tijero for the goal.
Avalos struck again on a feed from Chavez early in the second half for a 5-01 lead, then Chavez converted from Avalos for a 6-0 count.

Hector Creitz capped the scoring with about 15 minutes to play for the eventual 7-0 final.
Napa High also won, topping Benicia 4-0 in the early game.

No further details were available at press time.

The Indians and Crushers will face off at 7 p.m. tonight at the stadium.

“It was a good win, a good tuneup for us,” said Crushers coach Dennis Sweeney. “Napa High is also 2-0, so it should be a good contest.”
