Vintage, Napa soccer squads 2-0

Vintage High School’s boys soccer team improved to 2-0 on the young season with Friday night’s 7-0 rout over San Marin in the Vintage Soccer Classic at Memorial Stadium.

Young Braves get back to work

Justin-Siena High School’s volleyball team returns Lauren Yannucci, Kelsey Scanlon and Allison Bassett, but coach Kelly Porter said it will be a building year for the Braves.

Varsity Volleyball: Justin-Siena 3, Sonoma Valley 1

Kelsey Scanlon and Chelsea Lazzari led the Braves in kills as they opened the season with a 24-26, 25-19, 25-19, 25-23 nonleague win over the visiting Dragons on Thursday night. Lauren Yannucci was solid at setter and libero Alex Chrin played well in the back row.

Varsity Girls Water Polo: Vintage 16, Del Oro 2

The Crushers came out slowly in Friday’s season opener, concentrating on defense. They led 4-1 at the end of the first period and got into their offensive stride in the second period, which they finished up 10-1.

JV Girls Water Polo: Del Oro 10, Vintage 2

The Crushers played well in what was for many players their very first game of water polo.

JV Volleyball: Sonoma Valley 2, Justin-Siena 1

The visiting Dragons spoiled the Braves’ season opener with a 23-25, 25-22, 15-11 nonleague win on Thursday. Justin-Siena setter Megan Castellucci was solid and Gabby Salva was strong at the net.
