A vehicle pursuit that started in Vallejo ended in Napa County in a big way.

The suspect, whose name was not available, was pulled from his vehicle before it burst into flames on Highway 29 and Eucalyptus Drive in American Canyon.
The pursuit started on Friday afternoon in Vallejo, according to American Canyon Police Sgt. Joel Wilson.

As Vallejo police patrol units raced into American Canyon chasing the suspect vehicle, American Canyon officers threw  a spike strip at Highway 29 and Crawford Way, Wilson said.
The spike strip managed to blow the tires of the suspect’s vehicle but not enough to put the skids on the car, which eventually pooped out on Highway 29 and Eucalyptus Drive. The spike strip had punctured one of the back tires of the vehicle. The tire got so hot it caught  on fire, Wilson said.

When the vehicle was finally disabled, the suspect was pulled from the car before it caught on fire, Wilson said.
He was booked into the Napa County jail.

" Vallejo is a lucrative place to work if you are a city employee or a public safety worker (but I am sure you all know that, we pay as much as Santa Clara County, even though we have no rich silicon valley, wages for the fire department are 10% above those of Palo Alto, though we have no affluent colleges such as Sanford.) BTW the perp that was caught by the Vallejo PD with help from American Canyon PD was from Santa Rosa. Vallejo has to put up with crime from perps from Napa County and Sonoma County, criminals dont like to do their crimes in their own back yards because they may be recognized. I only mention this, because Napans like to blame their crime on "out of towners." Vallejo is a favorite city to blame... "

" Yeah, we know its a great place to work - ain't that why you're bankrupt? That was your city I was talking about not your schools - oh, your schools are bankrupt too? Sorry, I forgot. "
