Napa’s Donny Robinson, bronze medalist in bicycle motocross (BMX) at the Beijing Olympics, is being honored Sunday evening during the Napa River Festival at Veterans Memorial Park in Napa.

Robinson is set to be on stage at the park just before the 7 p.m. performance by the Napa Valley Symphony, according to a notice by the city of Napa.
Robinson, 25, a Napa High School graduate, survived a crash during a BMX qualifying race, and managed to avoid a major crash of other riders during the BMX final to earn the bronze medal. American Mike Day picked up the silver, with Maris Strombergs of Latvia earning the gold.

Admission to the River Festival is free.

" Not only does this man deserve a parade but we need to have "Donny Robinson" Day as well as present him a key to the city.

What a terrific job in the Olympics and what a wonderful role model for our kids!!!!

Great job, Donny!!!!!! "

" How many medalist from the Olympics has Napa ever had??? Come on Proud Napans, have a big festive day for Donny. If not a parade, then a big block party. Let us show Donny how proud we really are.

" That is great that Napa is honoring Donny, unfortunately most of our BMX kids are in Reno this weekend racing at the Black Jack Nationals and will miss this special occasion. "

" YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENT MAKES US VERY PROUD. JOB WELL DONE. I LOVE THE SEGMENT THAT WAS SHOWN WITH THE RICKSHAW'S IN DOWNTOWN BEIJING. IT WAS FUN LISTENING TO YOUR INTERVIEWS. YOU A HUMBLE YOUNG MAN, AND YOUR LOVE OF THE SPORT SHOWS. YOU ARE TRULY A WONDERFUL ROLE MODEL FOR KIDS IN THE VALLEY. "

" I think the NVR monitor should not post comments that are in all capitol letters. People should learn proper grammer and punctuation. It's really annoying seeing some comments, especially the one's that were caps locked. What is the deal with the 5 digit codes at the end too? Most of the time I don't know whether I am supposed to put a 1,i,j,l it's all the same. I don't see how the code makes anything more secure. "

NAPA66 wrote on Aug 31, 2008 6:06 PM:

" OH POOR JOE. COMMENTING ON CAPITAL LETTERS WHICH OUR KEYBOARDS ALLOW US TO DO AND IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EYESIGHT PROBLEMS OF MINE. PEOPLE LIKE YOU SHOULD LEARN THAT CAPITAL LETTERS IS CORRECT AND CAPITOL LETTERS ARE NOT. CAPITOL IS LIKE THE CAPITOL OF CALIFORNIA. I AM JUST GLAD TO COMMEND THIS YOUNG MAN FOR A GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT. I DIDN'T THINK THIS FORUM WAS TO BE GRADED FOR GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION. AND BY THE WAY MY SCHOLAR, IT IS GRAMMAR AND NOT GRAMMER. I AM GLAD WE HAVE THIS FORUM AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE READING THE CAPS MAYBE YOU COULD CONSULT YOUR DICTIONARY. "

anewcitygal wrote on Aug 31, 2008 7:07 PM:

" Well, if the NVR were to not post comments that were not proper
grammar and punctuation, then I guess you would not be allowed to post Joe. After all, the apostrophe in the word one’s indicates the possessive, as in belonging to someone or something. This could be used to describe one’s grammar mistakes. The apostrophe is also used as a contraction of two words which you mastered when and you used don’t instead of do not. and It’s instead of it is. One’s should not be used to describe multiple entities.
While we are at it. “it’s all the same” is a new sentence.
Therefore there should be a period after 1,i,j,l and it ‘s should have been
capitalized as the beginning of a new sentence.
Do not throw stones from a glass house. "

" I was there tonight and the honor was well received. Donny is a great young man, and a role model. Our next door neighbor, 6 years old and just learning to ride BMX, wore his bike jersey to the event in hopes to meet Donny and have him sign it. Home Town Hero!! "
