" I cannot find anything in the Opinions section about reader polls, nor do I find any section or page called "elections." This once again emphasizes how embarrassing it is that the local newspaper website for the "Legendary Napa Valley" is such an amateur production. "

" pinotnut:
At top of Napavalleyregister.com page is a bar listing "home news opinion..."
click on opinion - you'll go to the Opinion page - About halfway down the link, in the middle of the page is a header: "Election '08". Click on that and enjoy. "

" I'd like to see a disclosure by the candidates who oversee employee pay and benefits stating whether they will accept public employee union contributions. We need to start fingering the people who try to bargain with taxpayer dollars from both sides of the table. Oh, and if they refuse to make the disclosure - That will tell us plenty. "

" Hi Dan, is there any way we can vote for St. Helena city council candidates? "

" MarkMiwords: This is polling, not voting.... "

" Hi Dwayne: I was referring to the "Election 2008" button and link about 1/2 way down the middle of NVR's home page. This link allows you to state who you would vote for, amongst other things, candidates for different Napa county mayors, and for various city councils. The link for the St. Helena city council race wasn't activated, but the mayor's race was. "

" I think online polling is a great idea! And if its results challenge the findings of even ONE of those bought and paid for, out of area "consultant's" polls, it will be worth its weight in gold.
Online poll results will be like when a trial attorney makes a comment and the judge orders the jury to strike the comment - the jury may strike it officially, but they certainly heard it.
I'd bet that local politicos won't "know" the online results, but they will have read them.
Good idea, NVR! "
