NAPA - Wayne A. Sanderson, 71, of Napa, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008. Wayne was born July 29, 1937, in Cairo, Ill. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years, where he achieved the rank of senior master sergeant, and served in tours of duty during the Korean and Vietnam wars.

After leaving the service, he became a correctional officer at the Solano Correctional Facility for five years. A change of vocations then took Wayne to the postal service, where he served as a clerk and timekeeper for 17 years. During this time, Wayne was active in the Masonic lodge. He was involved in the York Rite, Crypto, Masonic Chess and High Twelve.
Wayne’s interests also led him to become a registered locksmith and safe technician, and he held a degree as a certified electronic technician. During much of his adult life, Wayne was very active with the California State Foster Parent Association, where he met his current wife, Susan. They were married on April 9, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev., at the Excalibur, as Sir Lancelot and Lady Guinevere. He and Susan resided in Napa from 1994 until his passing.

Wayne is deeply loved and survived by his wife, Susan; son Michael Sanderson of Lemoore; step-sons Randy Dykstra of Jacksonville, Fla., and Steven (and Trish) Dykstra of Fairfield; step-daughter Branda (and Vic) Calbreath of Riverbank; four granddaughters; brother Warden Sanderson of Isabella; sisters Mary McGarrity of Maryland Heights, Mo., Betty Haley of Charleston, Mo., Becky Weir of Bismarck, Mo., and Chris Bell of St. Louis, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Masonic memorial service in Napa is being planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Napa County Family and Foster Care Association, 4412 Meadowlark Drive, Napa, CA 94558.
