Alice Mamula
CHICAGO, Ill. - Alice Mamula, 85, died Aug. 27, 2008, after a long illness. Family was always the most important in Alice’s life and she had deep and giving relationships with all of her family members. Alice was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., and grew up with three sisters.
She is survived by two: Eleanor Adams and Alvina Rogers, who, although they live in different parts of the country, spoke to one another on a daily basis. Alice was preceded in death by her sister Sylvia Markusic Tenteris. Alice met her husband, John Mamula, in 1949, at a ballroom dance, fell in love and was happily married to him for 49 years until his death in 1999. Alice and John had one daughter, Patricia, who was living in Napa at the time of John’s death. Alice decided to leave Chicago in 2000 and make the brave move to Napa to join Patricia and her family. Here Alice found new people to join her family and was enjoying living at the Springs.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Patricia; her son-in-law, Garry Singer; her granddaughter, Jennifer; her grandson, Samuel and his wife, Heather; and her great-grandchildren, Michael Singer and Jaiden Singer. Alice is also survived by her nieces, Janice Burke, Claudia Spangler and Carol Adams; and many grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews.
A family service will be held in Chicago, Ill., at St. Casimir’s Catholic Cemetery. A Mass in honor of Alice will be held on Friday, Sept. 5, at 11:30 a.m., at Queen of the Valley Medical Center Chapel, officiated by Father Alan Wagner. Her Napa friends are invited to attend.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alice’s memory to Queen of the Valley Hospital Foundation, 1000 Trancas St., Napa, CA 94558.
