NAPA - Kenneth F. Bird, 80, passed away peacefully on Aug. 23, 2008, at The Meadows of Napa Valley. He was born Nov. 28, 1927, in San Francisco, to William E. and Jennie (Stewart) Bird.

He was a banker his entire life and worked for Hibernia Bank and retired from Bank of America. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947 as P.F.C.
He and his beloved wife enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and taking cruises with their family and friends. Kenneth was a cherished friend to many and a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West. He had been a resident at the Redwood Retirement Center in Napa for eight years. Prior to living in Napa, he resided in Daly City with his wife and was a member of Our Lady of Mercy parish in Daly City.

He was a loving husband of the late Bernardine (Calvo) Bird; brother to the following deceased siblings and their deceased wives: Edna Bird, Charles Bird, William Bird, George (Josephine) Bird, Edward (Lenore) Bird, John (Florence) Bird, Jane Bird and Sister Jeanne Bird C.S.J.O.; uncle to Thomas (Manuela) Bird, Edward (Sandy) Bird, Ronald Bird (deceased), Susan Fox, Michael (Peggy) Bird, Bernadette (Craig) Meyer, Jeanne (Steve) Brevik and Jennifer (Larry) Carr; grand-uncle to Tiffany and Noel Bird, Michael and Patricia Fox, Bryan, Robin and Conor Bird, Karen Butler, Matthew and Christopher Meyer, Erin, Megan, Shannon and Stephen Bird, Veronica and Jacqueline Brevik, Lauren, Megan and Stephanie Carr, and David and Dennis Bird; and a great-grand-uncle of nine.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m., at St. Apollinaris Catholic Church, 3700 Lassen St., Napa. The rosary service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m., at Claffey and Rota Funeral Home, 1975 Main St., Napa. Interment will be at Holy Cross in Colma.

The family requests charitable donations to Hanna Boys Center, in Sonoma, St. Anthony’s Foundation, in San Francisco, or Hospice of Napa Valley, in Napa.
