Eva Smith
SANTA BARBARA - With family members at her side, Eva Grace Smith (Labrie) died peacefully on Aug. 17, 2008, in Santa Barbara. She was 88.
She was born Aug. 25, 1919, in Long Valley, to Mary Grace and Halsey W. Smith.
She attended Auburn schools, married Melvin Ray Labrie on Oct. 13, 1940, and settled in nearby Newcastle.
She was preceded in death by Melvin Ray Labrie; her brother Nuel; and a second husband, Virgil Ray Smith.
She is survived by two sons: Gilbert Labrie of Napa and Wayne Labrie of Santa Barbara; an adopted daughter, Donna Sharp, of Sierra City; a niece; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest in a family plot in Sacramento.
