NapaValleyRegister.com has correspondents at both the Democratic and Republican conventions this year. This week, Napan Tracy Krumpen, an Obama delegate, and Napa political junkies Henry and Lynn Michalski offer their dispatches from Denver, site of the Democratic National Convention.

Monday, Aug. 25, 3 p.m.

Tracy Krumpen: Events and speakers everywhere. Though we were tempted Sunday night with private parties at mansions outside Denver and a concert at Red Rocks with Dave Matthews and Sheryl Crow, we chose to attend the All-Delegate Celebration at the Colorado Convention Center ... and we were not disappointed one bit.

Monday, Aug. 25, 2 p.m.

Henry Michalski: Denver delivers. Mary Fierro from Fresno was elected as a Hillary delegate to the national convention, and is not budging.

Sunday, Aug. 24

Tracy Krumpen: All this and convention is a day away?. Are there things to do in Denver if you’re a delegate? The answer is yes. The convention doesn’t officially start until Monday, but my Sunday agenda filled up quickly. Here’s what we have on tap:

We have endured one of the worst presidencies in American history, a stalling economy, and a war that was as deceptively packaged as it was poorly executed. The wrong track number is at 80 percent. What was necessary tonight was rebutting the only real weapon the Republicans have: dragging Obama into the mud, throwing every extremist attack they can at him, painting him as a commie, alien, anti-American freak. For good measure, they had tried to paint Michelle as an angry black radical.
They failed. There was nothing more American than the way the Obamas spoke of their story. It made them more appealing to the white working class and the black working class. It defused the smears.

" I have to say I truly enjoyed the convention tonight. Clinton was pretty good overall but more importantly had some great sound bites. The power of example instead of example of power line should resonate well with many people.

Bidens son had a great intro that was very heartfelt and led to a great speech for Biden IMO. Much more emotional night with great energy. I'm glad they haven't resorted to smears and overly negative talk towards MCCain. Little jabs while still making clear they all respect McCain as a person works for me. "
