CommentNAPA - Wayne Palmer Nicholes passed away Aug. 24, 2008, in Napa.
Wayne served his country during World War II and married Arline Peterson after the war. They joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1962, beginning a missionary career lasting 54 years for Wayne until retirement in 2005.

Wayne moved to Napa in 1995 and married Lillian Fleischmann, continuing to serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators even after retirement.
He is predeceased by his first wife Arline and son Don. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian; sons David (Ann) and Don (Maria); four granddaughters, one grandson and a great-grandson.

A memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 30, 11 a.m., at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 721 Trancas St., Napa. Graveside services will be Sept. 3, 2:30 p.m., at Fairhaven Memorial Park, 1702 Fairhaven Ave., in Santa Ana.
